Philosophy

We chose “the Susans” as midwives because they were fearless and trusted birth, and because we liked the idea of having them be the first people to touch our child as she made her transition here. It was important to us that this presence be loving and strong. What I hadn’t realized was the fact that they would also be welcoming me as I transitioned through the door of becoming a mother. I was so blessed that they were equally sensitive and wise in this.

As independent midwives, we blend the best of ancient wisdom with contemporary, evidence-based practice. Expect professional, reverent continuity of care for pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond. Over our many years of service, we have come to understand that if we conduct a delivery, nothing is learned or given. However, when we attend a mother, and bear witness to her hard work, we give the greatest gift and learn every time.
